XML Standards

We first published an XML standard for assurance data exchange in 2004. The format has proved robust and has only undergone one major revision since then in consultation with our clients and the industry to add extra features for movement reporting.

a common format for data exchange

The XML specification provides a formal data exchange schema that all CASI scheme information can be expressed in. This means that our data providers can develop IT systems with confidence that data submission and exchange interfaces will not change suddenly. This avoids generating additional costs or increasing development overheads.

Our data exchange partners currently include the majority of the UK's licenced food certification companies and a number of international certifiers, as well as government departments and agencies including DEFRA, the Environment Agency and the Food Standards Agency. The data standard has also become the base for many of our data suppliers' new internal IT systems who have adopted it for their own use.
